Functional Enhancements

This section describes the functional enhancements for this release.

Xstore — Desktop/Thin Client/Tablet/Handheld

The Xstore Point of Service user experience has been reimagined as part of its conversion to Oracle JET Redwood. All the form factors in this release will reflect a new design model that focuses on expanding the simplicity of the user experience, providing greater insight into critical functionality while still maintaining the extensive functionality and flexible configuration. Some examples of the Redwood theme attributes are the following, but not limited to:
  • New color for the application header.

  • Updated icons for actions.

  • Colors for charts.

  • Updated form field style with user assistance and inline labels

  • Updates to tables and grids to enable simpler sorting

  • Additional messaging styles for various situations.

For more information about Oracle JET configurations, see the Oracle Retail Xstore Jet Configuration reference paper on My Oracle Support (MOS): Oracle Retail Xstore Suite Supplemental Documentation Library Doc ID 1994467.1.

Xstore POS is supported on two separate orientations based on the device type and size. Xstore in landscape mode was designed for desktop, thin client, and larger tablet devices while the portrait design is specifically for handheld devices.

Customer Facing Display

The Customer Facing Display for Xstore Point of Service has been redesigned using Oracle JET Redwood user experience. It offers features including a display of the transaction items, customer information, and a QR code that can be configured to a retailer’s URL.

Estate Management

A System Upgrader application was included in Xenvironment to simplify and improve the upgrade process. This application replaces the update-jre.bat. Retailers only need to upload one consolidated upgrader for Xstore, Xenvironment and Xservices instead of multiple upgraders.

Courier Returns

The Courier Return option was added to search for Courier Return Orders using Order Search in Xstore. In conjunction with Collect and Receive we are introducing a new courier return flow. The functionality allows a retailer to search for an order once the courier service arrives with the returned item(s) to the retail store.

Xstore Deal Engine Enhancement

A configuration option was added to the Xstore Deal Engine to run the best deal calculation after all items have been added to the transaction. There are two available options now, run the deal immediately or wait until all items have been added.

Touch Free Returns — Buy Online Return in Store

Xstore now allows for a customer to initiate a return in Xstore POS related to a sale done via WEB and have a credit applied automatically to the credit card used on the original transaction. This requires that the same payment processor is used for both channels.

Globalization

Legal Enhancements

Enhancements have been added to Xstore POS for France, Mexico, Spain, Poland, Italy, Austria, Brazil, and Portugal country packs to comply with legal requirements.

Globalization Enhancements

The following global enhancements have been implemented:

Mandatory Invoice Threshold

The option to define a sales threshold above which an invoice must be issued was added to Xstore POS. This replaces other country specific settings.

Minimum Invoice Threshold

The option to define a minimum sales threshold where an invoice cannot be issued in Xstore POS. This replaces other country specific settings.

Item Dimension on Invoice

The item dimensions and serial numbers are now displayed on the invoice.

Receipts Tax-Recap

The receipts tax-recap section has been harmonized for the countries to show more information in a consistent form.

Returning Stores

It is now possible to apply the returning store taxation if the original taxation was applied to a different tax location (cross country returns).

Similar feature is applicable to taxed vouchers.

Tax Free Enhancements

The following enhancements have been made:

  • The fiscal receipt number, if configured, is now sent to the providers.

  • A tax-free invoice can be issued even if the original sale was associated to a lottery code.

  • The refresh time for the country eligibility can now be configured.

  • The usability of the tax-free issuing from back-office has been improved.

  • The custom classification for goods at merchandise levels can now be configured.

  • It is now possible to manage product extended descriptions.

  • The management of item type has been improved for Global Blue.

  • In countries like Italy, it is now possible to issue a Credit Note without printing it.

  • Credit Card issuer country eligibility detection has been improved: the first six digits of the BIN are no longer used, but the specific information returned by the payment provider.

  • The check on returnability status has been improved for Global Blue.

  • The logo for Planet tax-free receipts has been replaced.

  • The Silent Mode has been implemented for Global Blue, which reduces the tax-free issuing time.

  • Improved journey with ineligible items and payment integrated environment: now the customer is alerted and can take actions.
