Deploy a Semantic Model Containing EPM Connections

You can create and develop a semantic model that uses Oracle EPM Cloud data source connections. However, Semantic Modeler can't successfully deploy a semantic model containing Oracle EPM Cloud connections. Use this topic to work around this deployment issue.

To resolve this issue, use Semantic Modeler to export the model to an RPD file, open the RPD file in Model Administration Tool, reconfigure the model's EPM connection, and use the Oracle Analytics Console to upload the updated model to your Oracle Analytics environment.
  1. In Semantic Modeler, export the model:
    1. In the toolbar, click Page Menu Page menu, and then click Export.
    2. In the Name field, enter a name for the file.
    3. Select Repository Document File (.rpd) and specify a password that is eight or more characters and includes at least one numeric character and one non-numeric character.
    4. Click Export.
  2. Go to Model Administration Tool, open the exported RPD file, and update the connection properties:
    1. In the model's Physical layer, locate and double-click the physical database with the EPM connection pool that you need to modify.
    2. In Connection Pool, go to the General tab.
    3. Clear the Use Data Connection field.
    4. In the URL field, use this format to update the connection string:

      adm:thin:com.hyperion.ap.hsp.HspAdmDriver:<host>%3A<port>:<application name>?locale=en_US;hubProtocol=<http/https>

      Replace <host>, <port>, and <application name> with your environment's values.

      For <http/https>, use http or https for the hubProtocol based on your PBCS workspace URL.

    5. In Connection Pool, click OK. In Database, click OK to save the updated connection pool properties.
    6. Click File and select Save to save the updated model.
  3. Go to the Oracle Analytics Console and upload the RPD file:
    1. Navigate to the Console and click Snapshots.
    2. Click the More Actions menu, and then click Replace Data Model.
    3. In Replace Data Model, browse for and select the RPD file, enter the password, and click Replace.
  4. Log out and log back into Oracle Analytics.
  5. In Oracle Analytics, test the resulting subject area.
    1. In Home, click Create and click Workbook.
    2. In Add Data select the subject area and click Add to Workbook.
