Content authors use dashboard filters to build filter bars directly on canvases so that content consumers can focus in on the data they're interested in.
By default the dashboard filter's values are limited by other filters (report, canvas, on-canvas, and visualization filters). To configure a dashboard filter, select it and use the properties pane to select display options.
- On the Home page, select a workbook, click the Action Menu, and then select Open, then click Edit.
- Click the Visualize tab.
- In the Data Panel, click the Visualizations tab, and drag and drop Dashboard Filters to the canvas.
- In the Data Panel, click the Data tab, and drag and drop one or more dates, attributes, or measure columns to the new dashboard filter.
- Use the properties pane to change display options, such as fonts, filter type, and label. For
example, to change the default List filter type to Top Bottom N, click
Filter Controls, then List,
then Top Bottom N.
