Configure restart loop protection

Before you begin

Note: WebLogic Server Multitenant domain partitions and Resource Consumption Management are deprecated in WebLogic Server 12.2.1.4.0. The related Console and help pages will be removed in the next release.

Enable partition auto-restart

After enabling the partition auto-restart action, it is recommended that you specify the following optional configuration properties to prevent a partition from restarting in a loop. For more information, see Triggers.

To create a restart trigger:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the Domain Structure tree, expand Environment, then select Resource Management.
  3. On the Summary of Resource Managers page, select the resource manager for which you want to configure restart loop protection.
  4. On the Settings page, select the Enable Restart Loop Protection check box.
  5. Optionally, specify the following configuration properties:
    1. Max restart allowed: The maximum number of RCM initiated partition restarts allowed in the specified time interval, after which the partition will be halted upon an RCM initiated request to restart the partition.
    2. Max restart allowed interval: A fixed-width, sliding-window time interval (in seconds) within which the specified number (max-restart-allowed) of RCM initiated partition restarts are permitted. A request to restart the partition that exceeds the max-restart-allowed number in the max-restart-allowed-interval leads to the partition being halted rather than being restarted.
    3. Restart delay: A delay (in seconds) introduced before starting the partition.
  6. Click Save.
  7. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
