Flume Architecture

This architectural diagram of a Flume Agent shows the data generator on the left as a database icon with a cogwheel with an arrow going right into the Flume Agent box.

The words Flume Agent appear in the upper left hand corner of the box and the Apache Flume logo is in the upper right corner. Inside the box on the left, the entering arrow points to the Source, which is represented as a cinched box with a cogwheel in the middle.

A second arrow goes from the Source to the Channel, which is in the center of the box, and which is represented as a horizontal cylinder.

A third arrow goes from the Channel to the Sink on its right, which is also represented as a cinched box with a cogwheel in the middle.

The final arrow goes from the Sink to the External Repository, outside the Flume Agent box on the right, which is represented as a database icon superimposed on an item list icon that has a right arrow embedded in the lower part that leads to a cloud. Inside the cloud, there is a left arrow that interlocks with the right arrow originating from the list.
