Outside In Technology 8.5.7

The primary goals of this release are improved rendering fidelity in several key PDF and MS-OFFICE file formats, improved general font selection for all PDF exports, increased file format identification coverage, and enhanced EMAIL processing functionality. Other customer-requested enhancements and bug fixes are also included in the 8.5.7 release.

Pre-Installation Steps

This section contains the pre-installation steps for the 8.5.7 release.

OIT 8.5.7 supports Core Net6 environment on Linux/Windows X86-64 machine. Before installing OIT 8.5.7 binaries for Core.Net6, complete the following steps to install CoreNet:

Known Issues

  • OIT-supported SDKs on AIX PPC 64 and HPIA-64 platforms are not supported with base version 8.5.7.

    This support will be available from 8.5.7 Bundle Patch #1 (January, 2024)

  • OIT 8.5.7 supports PSB (Adobe Photoshop) file formats with few limitations.
    • This feature is not available on AIX PPC64.
    • Other limitations related to PSB support are:
      • Supported bits: 8-bit
      • Default Resolution: 72DPI
      • Supported Colorspace
        • RGB
        • GrayScale
        • CMYK
      • Pixel supported: Less then 30000
      • File size: Greater then 1GB is not supported
    • PSB and PSD have similar configuration support in OIT which is a design limitation.

Post Installation Notes

This section contains post installation notes in the 8.5.6 release.

Annotations in Bit ActiveX viewer for .NET 4.5 or higher

When Bit Active X is not highlighting annotations in .NET 4.5 or higher version then, perform the following steps:

  1. Open command prompt in Administrator mode.

  2. Run regsvr32 /u < path to old ocx. For example, C:\Program Files\OIX\OutSideX folder. This command will unregister the old activex dll.

  3. Run Sample applications and it should show error as Activex is missing.

  4. Copy new patch dlls of ActiveX to C:\Program Files\OIX\OutsideX\Filters directory.

  5. Run regsvr32 <path to test patch ocx file>. This will register the Activex File.

  6. Rebuild the Sample application.

VC Samples

To run VC Samples, follow steps:

  1. Build the C:\Program Files\OIX\OutsideX\Samples\VC\VSProjects\VCSamples in release/debug mode.

  2. Run the exe's present in C:\Program Files\OIX\OutsideX\Samples\VC\VSProjects\x64\release directory.

Note:

MSI installer is present in Windows ActiveX release, manual registration of OCX is applicable only for patch release with OCX file.

Known Issues

  • DWG file format support is not available on Solaris Sparc, Solaris X86 (AMD), AIX-PPC, HPUX-IA. (ref 33653341).

    This support will be available from 856 Bundle Patch #1 (April, 22)

  • PDF file format, all TYPE1 embedded fonts, and custom encoding are partially supported.

Limitations

Outside In Technology does not support bi-directional tables for Microsoft and Hancom Word Processor file formats. You can find the option under table properties. For Microsoft docx, the option is also available in the <bidivisual> tag in the document.xml file.
