Set user lockout attributes

Before you begin

Read the following sections in Securing Oracle WebLogic Server:

Note: If you Enable automatic realm restart in the security realm, you do not need to restart WebLogic Server after activating non-dynamic changes to the security configuration.

To set the user lockout attributes:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane select Security Realms.
  3. On the Summary of Security Realms page select the name of the realm (for example, myrealm).
  4. On the Settings for Realm Name page select Configuration > User Lockout.
  5. Modify default values on this page.

If the number of invalid login attempts for a user account exceeds the value set for the Lockout Threshold attribute on this page, the user account becomes locked. Specify other attributes on this page to modify how the number of invalid login attempts is calculated. For information about unlocking the account, see Unlock user accounts.

  6. Click Save.
  7. In the Change Center, click Activate Changes.

After you finish

If automatic realm restart is not enabled, you must restart WebLogic Server so that your changes can take effect. See Enable automatic realm restart.
