Create application-scoped request classes

Request classes express a scheduling guideline that WebLogic Server uses to allocate threads to requests.

Note: A Work Manager can specify only one request class. If you select to associate a Work Manager with a global request class, do not create an application-scoped request class.

To create an application-scoped request class:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, select Deployments.
  3. In the Deployments table, click the name of the application for which you want to create a request class.
  4. Select Configuration > Workload and select the Work Manager for which you want to create a request class.
  5. Click New.
  6. Select the radio button next to the type of request class you want to create.

For more information on each request class type, see Using Work Managers to Optimize Scheduled Work.

  7. Click Next.
  8. Enter the configuration information based upon the type of request class you are creating.

For more information on configuring request classes, see:

  9. Click Finish.
  10. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

Result

The new application-scoped request class is assigned to the Work Manager you selected and appears in the Application-Scoped Work Managers table.
