Security Settings

Use the Security Settings dialog to define and manage access permissions for a specific asset. You can either apply the application-level security settings to the selected asset, or your can define the permissions you want to grant to specific users or groups for that asset. More

You can set access permissions for assets created within or uploaded to WebCenter Portal. You cannot define access permissions for built-in assets.

Select:

  • Use Custom Permissions to define the security settings specific to the selected asset.

  • Use WebCenter Portal Security Settings to use the application-level security settings for the selected asset.

Add Users icon Add Users

When Use Custom Permissions is selected, click to add the users to whom you want to grant access permissions for the selected asset.

Clicking Add Users displays the Search Users dialog. In the Search field, specify the user name or the e-mail ID and click Search. From the search results, select the required users and click OK.

The selected users are listed in the Role or User column and granted the Update permission automatically.

Add Groups icon Add Groups

When Use Custom Permissions is selected, click to add the groups to which you want to grant access permissions for the selected asset.

Clicking Add Groups displays the Search Groups dialog. In the Search field, specify the group name and click Filter. Select the required groups and click OK.

The selected groups are listed in the Role or User column and granted the Update permission automatically.

Delete Access icon Delete Access

When Use Custom Permissions is selected, click to revoke the access granted to the selected user or group.

Be careful while deleting a user or group. WebCenter Portal does not prompt you to confirm the delete operation.

Role or User

Lists the users or groups who have been granted permissions on the asset.

Access

Shows the access permissions assigned to a user or group for the selected asset.

To assign a permission to a user or group, select:

  • Manage to enable the user or the group to be able to edit or delete the asset.

  • Update to enable the user or the group to be able to edit the asset.
