Obtaining Installation ISO Images

To install Oracle Linux, download the installation images from one of the following locations:

The following installation images are available for both the x86_64 platform and the aarch64 platform, unless indicated otherwise:

  • Full ISO of Oracle Linux for typical on-premises installations , based on Red Hat Compatible Kernel (RHCK). The full installation ISO contains the yum repositories required to perform a complete offline installation.
  • Boot ISO of Oracle Linux for network installations, based on Red Hat Compatible Kernel (RHCK).
  • UEK Boot ISO for network installations, based on the supported Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) release. Use this ISO to use the Btrfs file system or for installing on hardware that's supported only on UEK.

For instructions to install Oracle Linux with the Btrfs files system, see Installing a System With a Btrfs root File System.

You can use the UEK Boot ISO with the full installation ISO to perform an offline installation, by attaching the full ISO to the system and selecting it as the installation source when selecting software sources during the installation. See Installation Source for more information.

  • Source ISO that contains the source code for the software packages in the release.
