Containers

The following features and functionalities that are related to containers are deprecated in Oracle Linux 8.

container-tools Modules

The container-tools:1.0, container-tools:2.0, and container-tools:3.0 modules are deprecated and no longer support security updates.

Use newer supported stable module streams, such as container-tools:4.0 instead.

CNI

The Container Network Interface (CNI) network stack is deprecated in favor of Netavark.

Container-Tools 4.0 Module Deprecated

With this release, the container-tools:4.0 module is deprecated and will no longer receive security updates. To continue to build and run Linux Containers on Oracle Linux, use the latest module stream container-tools:ol8.

Podman varlink-based API v1.0

The Podman varlink-based API v1.0 has been removed. Use the Podman v2.0 v3.0 REStful API instead.
