Cockpit Web Console

The following features, enhancements, and changes related to the Cockpit web console are introduced in this Oracle Linux 8 release.

Cockpit Storage Section Improvements

The storage section in the Cockpit web console is redesigned to improve visibility across all host views and to simplify various storage management tasks. The Overview page, for example, displays all storage objects in a comprehensive table. By using this table, you can directly perform various storage operations on selected storage entries. For example, you can view details about a storage object or perform a supplementary storage action.

Note that this feature might not work correctly for multipath devices. See Storage Management in Cockpit Web Console Can't Be Used With Multipath Devices for more information.

Cockpit Virtual Machine Section Improvements

The Cockpit web console includes enhancement to the Virtual Machines section, including the following notable changes:

  • You can use the pre-formatted block device option in place of a physical disk device when creating a new storage pool, to avoid reformatting the raw disk device.
  • The Always attach option is set by default in the Add disk dialog.

Cockpit kdump Script Generation

The Kernel Dump page in the Cockpit web console includes an option to access and copy Ansible and shell scripts. You can use these generated scripts to apply a specific Kdump configuration across one or more hosts.
