fwupdate Cannot Downgrade Firmware (15663490)

If you attempt to downgrade firmware for a Hitachi H101414SC 146 GB disk drive using fwupdate, you might receive a message stating that the update was successful; however, fwupdate does not support firmware downgrades on this device.

Workaround

Compare the current firmware version with the version to which you want to update. If the current version is newer, do not update the firmware.
