4 Installing the Software Manually

This section describes how to manually install and uninstall Hardware Management Pack components on an Oracle server using operating system (OS)-specific commands. As of Oracle Hardware Manaagement Pack 2.4.9.0, manual installation is the only supported method of installation. If you have an earlier version of Oracle Hardware Management Pack, you should use the Installer included with that version to completely uninstall the application (see Installing the Software Using the Installer (Versions Earlier Than 2.4.9.0)) before installing Oracle Hardware Manaagement Pack 2.4.9.0 or later.

Note:

You have the option of installing Oracle Hardware Management Pack on a bootable Linux USB thumb drive. This option can be useful when using Oracle Hardware Management Pack fwupdate command to update system firmware on an x86 server that might be running an operating system not supported by Oracle Hardware Management Pack. For more information, see Creating a Bootable Thumb Drive Containing Oracle Hardware Management Pack.
