Manage the System Power Policy

The settings defined in this procedure are not applicable to all server platforms.

The IPMI TLS interface (orcltls) is supported as of Oracle ILOM firmware version 3.2.8 and later. For a higher level of security, you should always specify the IPMI TLS interface (-I orcltls) when executing Oracle ILOM commands from the IMPItool utility. Follow these steps to manage the system power policy settings on a managed device.

1. To get the current system power policy, type:

   $ipmitool -I [orcltls|lanplus] -H SP_hostname_or_IPaddress -U username -P password

2. To set the power manage policy to performance, type

   $ ipmitool -I [orcltls|lanplus] -H SP_hostname_or_IPaddress -U username -P password

3. To set the power manage policy to elastic, type:

   $ ipmitool -I [orcltls|lanplus] -H SP_hostname_or_IPaddress -U username -P password

4. To set the power manage policy to disabled, type:

   $ ipmitool -I [orcltls|lanplus] -H SP_hostname_or_IPaddress -U username -P password

   The following table describes the Power Management Policy State (IPMItool) input fields:

   Fields	Byte	Description
   Input Data	1	Sunoem command group number: 0x2e.
   	2	Command code 0x42 sets the Power Policy Activation State.
   	3	Group extension identification: 2.
   	4-6	Reserved fields.
   	7	Sub-commands for power policy activation: 00 - Performance policy 01 - Elastic policy 02 - Disable the policy
