Learn More About Oracle Architecture Center Content

Oracle Architecture Center provides vetted design patterns, architecture examples, solution playbooks, and deployment code to help you implement your cloud, multicloud, distributed cloud, and on-premises solutions. Use this information as a guide to get the most out of your investment.

Reference Architecture

Describes a specific use case having a vetted architecture, design recommendations, and sometimes deployment automation or code.

Reference architectures are:

  • Concise: Short, one-page documents, designed to help you get started and take full advantage of Oracle Cloud
  • Cross Product: Explains cross-product architectures to help you design, implement, and deploy topologies
  • Deployable: Reference architectures can include any of the following:
    • GitHub code samples
    • Terraform or other deployment content on GitHub
    • A Deploy to Oracle Cloud button to directly deploy Terraform in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Resource Manager
    • A Go to GitHub button to open the GitHub repo with scripts and readme information
    • A Deploy from Marketplace button to install an application from Oracle Cloud Marketplace

The following are some example reference architectures:

Solution Playbook

Describes architectural patterns and detailed implementation steps to solve your business problem.

A solution playbook begins with an overview of the end-to-end solution for a cross-product deployment. It may include prerequisite knowledge or configurations required before you begin using the solution. Solution playbooks can include one or more architecture diagrams that describe a topology and recommended design patterns. They can also include step-by-step instructions leading to a deployment.

Solution playbooks are:

  • Targeted: Helps you achieve specific business goals tailored to your organizational requirements
  • Cross Product: Provides recommendations on how to use multiple products and services required to solve the business problem
  • Deployable: Solution playbooks can include any of the following:
    • GitHub code samples
    • Terraform or other deployment content on GitHub
    • A Deploy to Oracle Cloud button to deploy Terraform directly in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Resource Manager
    • A Go to GitHub button to open the GitHub repo with scripts and readme information
    • A Deploy from Marketplace button to install an application from Oracle Cloud Marketplace

The Architecture Center includes two types of solution playbooks:

  • Design Playbook: Explains the concepts and choices to help you make informed decisions to address your business problems. Some may include decision trees or workflows.
  • Implementation Playbook: Provides step-by-step instructions to implement an architecture pattern or a recommended solution. A pattern may also provide alternative architecture choices or code samples, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your business needs. It can also have a call-to-action button such as Go to Github that allows you to deploy the code automatically.

The following are some example design playbooks:

Deployable or Sample Code

A reference architecture or solution playbook may contain one or more call-to-action buttons. When a button is present, you can use it to deploy or download code, code samples, or directly deploy the code using OCI Resource Manager from GitHub or Oracle Cloud Marketplace.

You can deploy the architecture or solution using the downloadable code as described in the Deploy section. The following are the three possible call-to-action buttons included in our content:

  • Deploy to Oracle Cloud: Pulls the code from OCI Resource Manager, creates the stack, and deploys it in your Oracle Cloud account.
  • Deploy from Marketplace: Provides a link to install the application from Oracle Cloud Marketplace.
  • Go to GitHub: Directs you to the GitHub repository so that you can download code samples, sample data, or deployment templates such as Terraform code. The README file provides additional information about how to implement the solution or reference architecture.

Tip:

Deploying on OCI requires an account. Sign up for Free Tier if you don't have an account.

The following are some examples including these features:

Built and Deployed

Describes a real world example that provides guidance to future customers on how Oracle Cloud solved an Oracle customer's business problem. Discusses the reference architecture a customer has built and deployed on OCI. Some include a short technical video interview that tells the deployment journey from the customer's point of view.

The following are some examples of built and deployed content:

Best Practices

Provide key considerations, tips and tricks, workarounds, troubleshooting advice, or prerequisites to support a specific goal.

Best practices are explained sequentially for a specific goal or integration type and organized as a handbook or a reference manual. Best practices enable you to do the following:

  • Define what a solution means for you and your business
  • Make informed choices while selecting your integration solutions
  • Plan your integration based on your resources and impact to revenue
  • Build secure and resilient code with robust source control mechanisms
