Analyze Data with Tableau Desktop

Connect to Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse

Create a connection from Tableau Desktop to Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse.

  1. Start Tableau Desktop on your local machine.
  2. Under Connect To a Server, click More and then click Oracle.
  3. Provide the required server information:
    • Server: Provide the name of the server you want to connect to. This name is listed in the tnsnames.ora file downloaded with the credentials wallet. For example, adwus_low.
    • Username: Provide the user name to access the server, for example Admin.
    • Password: Provide the associated password.
  4. Click Sign In.
  5. Click the menu under Schema and select a schema.
  6. Drag and drop one or more tables onto the work area.

Create a Visualization

After you connect to data warehouse and select one or more data sources, you are ready to visualize the data.

  1. Click an existing sheet tab or create a new sheet.
  2. Drag fields form the Data panel to create columns and rows for analysis. For example, drag a Dimensions field such as Products to Columns and a Measures field such as Sales to Rows.
  3. Refine the visualization, choose other display options, and create additional sheets.
