The image shows the topology of a typical compartment layout in OCI. It contains four levels of nested compartments:
  • The root compartment—known as a tenancy—is level 0 (zero) and contains all other compartments.
  • Level 1 is the parent compartment and is nested inside of the tenancy. This is the Enterprise Scale Baseline Landing Zone home and contains all subsequent compartments.
  • Level 2 is the Common Infra Compartment. This illustration shows two level 2 compartments nested inside the parent compartment, with level 3 compartments nested within one of the level 2 compartments (the other level 2 compartment is empty). Tagging is enabled within this compartment.
  • Level 3, in this illustration, is actually two compartments nest in one of the level 2 compartments. These compartments are allocated as follows:
    • A security compartment
    • A network compartment
Tagging is enabled within all three of these compartments.
