Install the Veeam Availability Suite

To install Veeam Availability Suite, log in to the Veeam server and use the installer that you downloaded in the last section to walk through the installation steps.

Veeam provides detailed documentation for installation and configuration. The following procedure is a simple overview of installing the software. We recommend that you refer to the User Guide for VMware vSphere, referenced referenced in the "Before You Begin" topic for more detailed information.

The topics in this article provide a simple overview of installing the software, focusing on configuring backup repositories to use the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Block Volume, File Storage, and Object Storage services.

  1. Establish a Remote Desktop session to the Compute instance that you created to install the Veeam software.
  2. Verify that the vCenter Server is reachable (that is, perform a ping test) and extract the installation package.
  3. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication ISO file and select Setup to start the installation.
  4. After the installer opens, choose Veeam Backup & Replication – Install (the first icon on the right).
  5. Specify the path to the license key file. If you skip this step, the software operates as the community edition.
  6. After the installation is complete, open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console from the desktop shortcut or the start menu.
  7. Follow the instructions in the User Guide for VMware vSphere, referenced in the "Before You Begin" topic, to add vSphere servers, backup proxies, and other configurations that you need.
