This image shows a single region with one availability domain. Backup object storage is provided for the region.
The architecture shows a single virtual cloud network (VCN). The VCN is configured with four regional private subnets and a dynamic routing gateway (DRG) for private communications between the customer data center and the subnets using FastConnect.
The Main VCN provides the following subnets arranged as functional tiers:
-
Regional Private Subnet A: A load balancer manages traffic from end users to Calculation Servers and Application Servers in a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster and to batch processes on a dedicated virtual machine (VM). Batch and HPC process connect to the Exadata database system.
-
Regional Private Subnets B and C: Primary and standby Exadata database systems span subnets B and C for client and backup traffic. Oracle Data Guard is used for data synchronization and failover. Note that because you cannot deploy disaster recovery across fault domains with Oracle Exadata Database Service, this configuration is still susceptible to events that impact the entire region.
-
Regional Private Subnet D: This subnet includes file storage and virtual machines that host an Operation Server and a Web Portal.
