This image shows an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure region with a single availability domain and two fault domains. It also shows a virtual cloud network (VCN) with three regional subnets arranged as functional tiers. Route tables and network security groups (NSG) provide security for each subnet and its resources.

• Load Balancing Tier (public subnet): Active and standby load balancers manage traffic to the Web Tier. An internet gateway provides a public connection from end users.

• Web Tier (public subnet): Web servers in each fault domain handle requests and traffic to and from the Database Tier.

• Database Tier (private subnet): An Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing database is provided in fault domain 1.
