About Disaster Recovery Between Oracle Cloud VMware Solution Sites Across Regions

This deployment model applies to regions with one availability domain. Here, the primary site and the recovery site reside in different regions. This model best suits far-site disaster recovery requirements and can be used for regions with multiple availability domains, providing a fault-tolerant site in another region.

This article describes the architecture, configuration considerations, and implementation prerequisites for this deployment model.

Architecture

The following figure illustrates a detailed architecture of the connection between two Oracle Cloud VMware Solution sites in single availability domains in separate regions for disaster recovery

Understand Assumptions and Key Considerations

Following are assumptions and key considerations for this deployment model.

  • You have a VMware SRM license to use in Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. Oracle Cloud VMware Solution doesn’t provide an SRM license as part of the universal credit subscription.
  • Only vSphere Replication is supported.
  • VLANs specific to an availability domain, so you can’t use regional subnets.
  • You are familiar with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and VMware.
  • You are familiar with DNS configurations on Microsoft Windows.
