Description of illustration Retail_OCI_Deployment.png

This image describes the architecture for provisioning one or more Oracle Retail Management System application tier nodes, plus a separate node for the database tier, on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

In this image, a box representing the customer date center, comprising the data center and the customer's on-premises equipment is connected to a dynamic routing gateway. The data center is connected via Fast Connect while the on-pre equipment is connected via a V.P.N.

The dynamic routing gateway connects to a box representing the customer data center to the Oracle Cloud Data Center Region. This box is also connected via an internet gateway to external web traffic. The Oracle Cloud Data Center Region contains a virtual clooud network (V.C.N.), labeled Virtual Cloud Network 1 and represented by dotted-line box. Within this box is Availability Domain 1, represented by a shaded box. Within this Availability Domain are the different tiers that comprise the V.C.N.:
  • DMZ Tier, comprising Public Subnet 1 and containing a load balancer connected bi-directionally to the aforementioned internet gateway and dynamic routing gateway.
  • Security Tier, comprising Public Subnet A and containing a bastion server. This bastion server is connected bi-directionally via SSH connections to the dynamic routing gateway. It is also connected bi-directionally to all other tiers except the DMZ tier.
  • Web Tier, comprising Public Subnet C and containing servers for H.T.T.P, Batch processing, S.F.T.P, P.o.S., and Golden Gate Cloud Service. It also contains a security list and a route table.
  • Application Tier, comprising Public Subnet D, containing servers for R.M.S., R.P.M., R.e.S.A., R.e.I.M., Allocation, S.I.M, Scheduler, R.I.B, I.D.M, O.B.I P.u.B, R.X.M, and B.D.I. It also contains a file storage node, a security list, and a route table.
  • Database Tier, comprising Public Subnet E, containing servers for D.BaaS or 2-node RAC V.M. and for ExaC.S, plus a block storage node, a security list, and a route table.
There is a load balance positioned between the Web Tier and the Application Tier. Within the Oracle Cloud Data Center Region are several other components:
  • Serial Console
  • Service Gateway
  • Auditing feature
  • IAM node
  • Policies feature
  • Object storage node
  • API service
