Plan to View and Manage Oracle Cloud at Customer Logs

To analyze Oracle Cloud at Customer logs, you can choose to view and manage them. You can also optionally upload them to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage Classic to save disk space on your Cloud service instances and optionally archive logs for long-term and cost-efficient storage.

Typical workflow for handling your Oracle Cloud at Customer logs:

  1. View your Oracle Cloud at Customer logs.

  2. Manage your Oracle Cloud at Customer logs.

  3. Upload your Oracle Cloud at Customer logs to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage Classic .

View Oracle Cloud at Customer Logs

Log files generated by your Oracle Cloud service instances provide information to debug and monitor them. The Oracle Cloud services on Oracle Cloud at Customer store logs in different locations depending on the type of instance. You can upload these logs to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage Classic

  1. Sign in to the instance for which you want to view the logs.
  2. Navigate to one of the following locations to view the logs, depending on the type of Oracle Cloud service instance:
    Cloud Service Location of Logs
    Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute Classic

    Standard location of the operating system of the instance. For example, Oracle Linux logs to /var/log by default.

    Any errors encountered during the initialization of an instance are logged to /var/log/opc-compute/opc-init.log.
