The image shows an architecture diagram with an On-Premises Data Center and
an database and an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Region.
The source on-premises data center includes Customer Premises
Equipment, an Application Server, Storage, Oracle Database Enterprise
Edition, and an Oracle Database Backup Cloud Backup Module. A Site-to-Site
VPN or OCI Fast Connect connects the customer premises equipment with the
DRG in the OCI Region.
The OCI Region has OCI Object Storage, 1 Availability Domain, a VCN with two
regional private subnets, a DRG and a service gateway. The following reside
in the Availability Domain:
- Regional Private Subnet 1 (10.0.2.0/24) contains the OCI
Bastion
- Regional Private Subnet 2 (10.0.1.0/24) contains the RMAN Target
Database System
- OCI Block Volumes
and two .
The workflow is as follows:
- An on-premises database backup is saved to the Oracle Database
Cloud Backup Module.
- The backup set is transferred to OCI Object Storage in the OCI
Region.
- Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) backup is restored to the RMAN target (DB System). SQL*Net between the source and target
database validates the backup.
In addition to sending data to Oracle Database Cloud Backup Module, data is sent
with SQL*Net directly to the RMAN target Database System.
