This graphic shows an on-premises Oracle Database deployment being migrated to an Oracle Autonomous Transaction
Processing database in the cloud.
- The on-premises data center contains a 16-core Oracle Database Enterprise Edition installation connected to a storage device, an application server, and an edge device for private connectivity to Oracle Cloud.
- The MV2ADB tool is also installed on-premises, and is used to move data to the cloud.
- The Oracle Cloud region contains an application server and an Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing database deployed in a single availability domain, but in separate private subnets within a VCN.
- Security lists are used to regulate traffic to and from the subnets.
- Route tables are used to direct traffic bound for destinations outside the VCN.
- A Dynamic Routing Gateway enables private connectivity from the on-premises data center to the private subnets, using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect or IPSec VPN.
- A Service Gateway enables the resources in the private subnets to communicate with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage.
- MV2ADB uses Oracle Data Pump to first stage the data from the on-premises databases to on-premises storage. Then, MV2ADB copies the data to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage, and imports the data to the Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing database.
