The image shows an OCI region and an Amazon Web Services (AWS) region side-by-side.
The OCI region contains three availability domains (AD), spanned by a virtual cloud network (VCN), which itself contains a subnet, which also spans the three ADs. Each AD contains a separate component, respectively: an Oracle database, and OCI virtual machine, and a suite of enterprise applications Access to this subnet is through a dynamic routing gateway (DRG).
The AWS regions contains three Availability Zones (AZ), which are spanned by a virtual prvate cloud (VPC), which itself contains a subnet, which also spans the three AZs. Each AZ contains a separate database component, respectively: an RDS custom for Oracle, and RDS for Oracle, and Oracle on AWS EC2. A management gateway and a management agent sit on the edge of the first AZ.
Data travels between the OCI region and the AWS region from the CPE over an IPSec VPN external to both regions, then over a Site-to-Site VPN within the AWS region and then enters the VPC through a VPC gateway.
