Create a Desktop Pool

OCI Secure Desktops is a flexible service that allows you to create pools of identically configured virtual desktops that individual users can securely access. As a OCI-native service, OCI Secure Desktops is integrated into the OCI console under the Compute sub menu. An administrator with the proper permissions can create pools of desktops in a designated compartment.

Follow these steps to create a desktop pool:

  1. In the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console, open the navigation menu and click Compute.
  2. Under Secure Desktops, click Desktop Pools.
  3. Select the Compartment that you want to create the pool in.
End user access to the desktops is controlled through policies assigned to the compartment and IAM group memberships. A compartment can have many desktop pools which share the same policy. Desktop pools can be distributed in different compartments for different groups of users, such as based on requirements for desktop OS and shape or based on device access policy restrictions. The compartment determines which user groups can access the pool. See Understanding Desktop User Access to a Desktop Pool in the OCI Documentation.
  4. Click Create Desktop Pool. Define the desktop pool parameters.
When creating a pool in a compartment the administrator defines the parameters for all the desktops in that pool of desktops. See OCI Desktop Pools in the OCI Documentation to learn more.
  5. Click Create.
