Delete an Existing Partition

Delete a partition to remove the partition definition and unassign all resources in the partition.

Caution:

Before deleting a partition, make sure that it no longer holds tape cartridges that contain valid data. When you reassign the slots, the host application that controls the new partition may treat any resident tape cartridges as scratch volumes.
  1. Move all tape cartridges out of the partition you want to delete.
  2. Access the Partitioning Screen
  3. In the left-hand menu, select a partition.

The selected partition's name is bolded and has a dark box next to the name. Such as Partition 5 selected.

  4. Click Delete Partition, just below the list of partitions.
  5. Click OK. Reassign resources as needed (see Assign Resources to the Partition).
  6. Otherwise, if you are finished, click Next. Then, review and apply the configuration changes.
