Editing Authorizations for a Role (BUI)

A role is a collection of authorizations that can be assigned to a user. Use this procedure to add and delete authorizations for a role. This procedure applies to editable roles only. System-delivered roles cannot be modified. To change the authorizations provided by a system role, clone the system role and edit the cloned role.

Note:

System roles are not editable; to customize, clone the system role into a local or directory role and edit that clone.
  1. From the Configuration menu, select Users.
  2. Hover over the role in the Roles list, and click the edit icon image showing the edit icon . System roles do not support editing authorizations.
  3. Optional: In the Authorizations section of the Edit Role dialog box, add authorizations for this role.

    Iterate the following steps until you have added all of the authorizations that you want this role to have:

    1. Select a Scope.

      Any filters that are available for this scope appear below the Scope selector.

    2. Specify filters for the scope as necessary.
    3. Click the check box for each authorization to add.
    4. Click ADD in the Authorizations section.

      The authorizations are listed at the bottom of the Authorizations section.

  4. Optional: Delete authorizations for this role.

    In the list of authorizations at the bottom of the Authorizations section, hover over the authorization that you want to delete, and click the trash icon Image showing the destroy icon .

  5. Click APPLY at the top of the dialog box.
