You need SSH public/private key pairs to connect to the compute node associated with your Oracle Database Cloud Service instance. Several tools exist to generate SSH public/private key pairs on UNIX, UNIX-like and Windows platforms.

However, you can skip this procedure if either of the following is true:

• You have an existing SSH public/private key pair and intend to use it.

• You intend to create a system-generated key pair when you create your Oracle Database Cloud Service instance.
