Optional study elements

When you design a study in the Central Designer application, you can specify whether a study element is required or optional. Optional items that are included in the study design and deployed to the InForm application may be left blank by InForm users. If an optional element does not contain data, the row that corresponds to the element in an ad hoc report does not contain data.

For example, your study may include a Sponsor Name element, for which you can choose not to enter data. In this case, ad hoc reports that contain the SponsorName report element display a row for the item, but the cells in the row do not contain the sponsor name.
