Get Started with Management Dashboards
As a first step towards getting started with Management Dashboards for a supported Observability & Management service, you must ensure that you have the required permissions.
The permission to use Management Dashboards is granted using Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies. Here's an example of a policy with the manage verb for the management-dashboard-family aggregate resource-type, which grants the dashboard-admins user group the permission to perform all Management Dashboards tasks:
Allow group dashboard-admins to manage management-dashboard-family in compartment ABCFor detailed information on the Management Dashboards resource-types and examples of policies, see Details for Management Dashboards.
An Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring service permission is required to
view metric data in dashboards and create widgets. To grant this permission, a policy
with the read verb for the metrics resource-type must
be created. Here's an example:
Allow group dashboard-users to read metrics in compartment ABCFor information on the Monitoring service resource-types and permissions, see Details for Monitoring.
In addition to the required Management Dashboards and Monitoring service permissions, you must obtain permissions and complete the other prerequisite tasks for the Observability & Management service for which you want to use Management Dashboards. For information, see supported service documentation.
