Instance Sizing Recommendations for OpenShift Container Platform Nodes

Find recommended values for compute instance CPU, memory, VPU, and volume size for OpenShift Container Platform nodes.

We recommend creating control plane and worker nodes with the minimum values listed in this topic. Optionally, you can use these values to create OCI instance configurations, which are templates that make it easier and faster to create identical compute instances. See Creating an Instance Configuration for instructions on creating instance configurations.

Control Plane Nodes

For control plane nodes (master nodes), the recommended minimum values are as follows:

  • OCPU: 4
  • memory: 16 GB
  • Boot volume size: 500 GB
  • VPU: 60

Compute Nodes

For compute nodes (worker nodes), the recommended minimum values are as follows:

  • OCPU: 4
  • memory: 16 GB
  • Boot volume size: 100 GB
  • VPU: 30
