Initial System Installation Checklist
Complete this checklist to plan for the initial installation wizard, which walks you through the system initialization parameters and first boot process of your Private Cloud Appliance.
Work with your network and site administrators to plan the integration of the appliance into your data center. For initial configuration you can select either a dynamic network or static network configuration. This checklist contains information for both options, but you only need data for the implementation you select.
For more information about network requirements, see Preparing the Data Center Network Environment.

General Configuration Parameters
Item |
Your Configuration |
Description and Example |
---|---|---|
Administrator user name and password |
The rack doesn't ship with a default administrative user account. You create an administrator account during the initial installation. Passwords must contain at least 12 characters with at least one of each: uppercase character, lowercase character, digit, punctuation character, and no double quote ('"'). |
|
Logical connection |
Choose static or dynamic routing. Both routing options are supported by all three physical topologies (Mesh, Square, Triangle). Static routing implies that all egress traffic goes through a single default data center gateway IP address. It must be in the same subnet as the rack uplink IP addresses, so it is reachable from the spine switches. Dynamic routing implies that BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) is used to establish a TCP connection between two Autonomous Systems: the rack network and the data center network. |
