OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for 20,000 worker nodes per Kubernetes cluster
- Services: Kubernetes Engine
- Release Date: July 08, 2026
You can now use OKE to create enhanced clusters with up to 20,000 managed (or self-managed) nodes per cluster, with Oracle approval. Contact your Oracle account team for approval if you plan to use clusters with more than 5,000 worker nodes.
This increased limit applies to enhanced clusters that use the flannel CNI plugin for pod networking, subject to regional and realm capacity availability.
Enhanced clusters that use the VCN-Native Pod Networking CNI plugin have a default limit of 2,000 managed or self-managed nodes per cluster. If you need more worker nodes, contact your Oracle account team to review the use case, requirements, and availability.
With more worker nodes in a single cluster, you can deploy larger workloads on that cluster to improve resource utilization and reduce operational overhead. You also have fewer, larger environments to operate, secure, monitor, upgrade, and manage.
