New Identity Domain Type: External Active User Available in OCI IAM

  • Services: IAM
  • Release Date: April 21, 2026

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Identity and Access Management (IAM) has implemented a new identity domain type for non-employees, External Active User, which counts unique users who authenticate within a calendar month. The system uses a metering agent that collects, stores, and reports active user data to the billing platform. The new logic is fully integrated into the existing IAM architecture.

Note

External Active User (B112199) provides the same IAM service and functionality that currently exists as OCI IAM External (B93493). External domains meter all stored users, while these new External Active User domains meter only active users. Other IAM domain types aren't impacted.
