New Features in OCI Database with PostgreSQL
- Services: OCI Database with PostgreSQL
- Release Date: June 16, 2026
The following features are available in this release:
- Stopping and starting a database system: You can now stop and start OCI Database with PostgreSQL database systems to optimize resource usage and reduce costs. When you stop a system, OCI halts Compute billing and preserves storage and network settings. When you start the system, OCI restores full functionality with the same configuration. For more information, see Stopping and Starting a Database System.
- Replication with warm standby: You can now maintain a continuously updated standby database system in a separate region using PostgreSQL Replication with Warm Standby. Replication with Warm Standby is a disaster recovery tool that enables you to maintain a continuously updated standby database system in a separate region. By implementing this method, you can reduce recovery time, safeguard your data, and ensure business continuity when unexpected disruptions occur. Replication with Warm Standby supports disaster recovery with Recovery Point Objective (RPO) SLO both in the same region and cross region which enables data protection against unexpected events. Warm standby in the same region can enable further horizontal scaling as a single database system supports only 8 nodes. For more information, see Replication with Warm Standby.
