Support for pull-through cache repositories and the top-level capability
- Services: Container Registry
- Release Date: November 04, 2026
Container Registry now supports pull-through cache repositories and the top-level repository capability.
A pull-through cache repository retrieves requested container images from an approved Container Registry endpoint in another OCI region within the same OCI realm. On the first request, Container Registry streams the image to the client while caching it in the local OCI region. Subsequent requests can be served from the local cache.
Pull-through cache repositories are private and support image pulls only. Pushing images to a pull-through cache repository is not supported.
You can enable the top-level capability when creating a standard repository or a pull-through cache repository. A top-level repository can contain images at its root path and at child paths beneath the repository name. This enables you to organize related image paths under one repository resource instead of creating and managing a separate repository for each path.
