Enable jCOM

Before you begin

Enabling the jCOM protocol for a server instance is one of several steps needed for bidirectional access between modules on a WebLogic Server instance and Microsoft ActiveX components, Visual Basic and C++ objects, and other COM/DCOM environments. See Developing JCOM Applications for Oracle WebLogic Server.

To enable and configure the jCOM protocol for a WebLogic Server instance:

If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
In the left pane of the Console, expand Environment and select Servers.
On the Servers page, select a server.
On the Servers: Protocols: jCOM page, select the Enable jCOM check box to enable the jCOM protocol.
Modify the default values for the other attributes.

Click Save.
To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

After you finish

Use security roles and policies to allow COM clients to communicate with modules on WebLogic Server. See Create scoped security roles and Create policies for resource instances.
If the server instance is running, restart it.
