Apply a server template

Before you begin

Create server templates

Server templates define common configuration attributes for a set of server instances in one centralized location. When you apply a server template to a Managed Server, the server instance inherits the server template configuration.

To apply a server template to a Managed Server:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, select Environment > Servers.

The Servers table displays all the server instances defined in the domain.

  3. In the Servers table, select the name of the Managed Server for which you want to apply the server template.
  4. Select Configuration > General.
  5. In the Template field, click Change.

The Change Server Template Reference page is displayed.

  6. From the Server Template list, select the server template you want to apply to your Managed Server and click Yes.

A confirmation message is displayed verifying that the template assignment succeeded.

  7. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
