Control resource groups at the partition level

You control the resource groups for a partition independently from the partition itself. For example, you can shut down a resource group while the partition remains running. You can perform the following control actions on a resource group at the partition level:
  • Start - All of the applications deployed to the resource group are started if they can be started.
  • Shut down - All of the applications deployed to the resource group are shut down. Shutting down a resource group causes the applications and resources in that resource group to stop running and to be removed from memory.
  • Suspend - The suspend operation gracefully transitions the resource group and any applications deployed to it from the RUNNING to ADMIN states.
  • Resume - The resume operation gracefully transitions the resource group and any applications deployed to it from the ADMIN to RUNNING states.
To control a resource group at the partition level:
  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, select Domain Partitions.
  3. Select the domain partition for which you want to control the resource groups.
  4. Select the Resource Groups page.
  5. Select the Control page.
  6. Select the resource group you want to control.
  7. Click the action you want to perform: Start, Shutdown, Suspend, or Resume.
  8. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
