Create a trigger

Before you begin

Create a Resource Consumption Manager

A trigger defines a static constraint value for the allowed usage of a resource. When the consumption of that resource exceeds the constraint value, a specified action is performed. See Triggers.

To create a trigger:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the Domain Structure tree, expand Environment, then select Resource Management.
  3. On the Summary of Resource Managers page, select the resource manager for which you want to create a trigger.
  4. On the Policies page, click New on the Trigger table.
  5. Select the resource for which you want to create a trigger.
  6. Click Next.
  7. On the Trigger Properties page, enter the properties for your new trigger.

Trigger Name - Enter a name to identify this trigger.

Value - The amount of resource allocated for a trigger.

Action -The type of action taken when the trigger value is reached.

  8. Click Finish.
  9. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
