Create diagnostic system modules


A diagnostic system module is a software component that you configure to monitor an aspect of a server or server resource. You can configure multiple system modules to monitor different aspects of a server, and multiple such module can be active on a server.

To create a diagnostic system module:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane, expand Diagnostics and select Diagnostic Modules.
  3. On the Summary of Diagnostic Modules page, click New.
  4. On the Create a Diagnostics System Module page:
    1. Enter a name for the module in the Name field.
    2. Select the scope for the module from the Scope dropdown menu.
    3. Optionally, enter a description for the module in the Description field.
    4. If you want to use a built-in diagnostic system module as a template for the module, click Use a built-in WLDF system resource as template. For information, see Create a diagnostic system module using a built-in for a template.
  5. Click OK. The name of the new diagnostic module is added to the Diagnostic Modules table on the Summary of Diagnostic Modules page.
  6. On the Summary of Diagnostic Modules page, click the name of the new module.
  7. On the Settings for [Module Name] page, set configuration options for the module:
  8. To target the module to a server or cluster, select Targets. For more instructions, see Target and untarget diagnostic system modules.
  9. To dynamically activate or deactivate the module (that is, without making a configuration change), select Control. For more instructions, see Dynamically activate or deactivate a diagnostic system module.
  10. To view the diagnostic system modules available in a particular partition, resource group, or resource group template, select the desired partition, resource group, or resource group template, then select the Services > WLDF page.
  11. In the Change Center, click Activate Changes.
