Secure your production domain

Before you begin

Your domain must be in production mode to enable secured production mode. See Change to production mode.

WebLogic Server provides an option to create a more secure environment for your production domain. You enable secured production mode to ensure a highly secure environment for your applications and resources. For more information, see Install WebLogic Server in a Secure Manner.

Note: If you select to run your domain in secured production mode, then the administration port is enabled by default and administrative traffic is no longer allowed on non-administration ports. For this reason, when in secured production mode, the Administration Console is available only via HTTPS on the default port, 9002. If you disable the administration port, WebLogic Server will log a warning.

To configure your production domain to run in secured production mode:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, under Domain Structure, select the domain name.
  3. Select Security > General under settings for your domain.
  4. Expand the Advanced node and scroll down to Secured Production Mode Settings.
  5. Select the Secured Production Mode check box.
  6. Click Save.

You need to restart the server for the changes to take effect.

  7. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

Result

After the server restart, your production domain will be more secure. The secure values will override the production mode default values.
