Perform rolling restart of servers

You can initiate a rolling restart of all eligible servers in a domain, in selected clusters, or individual selected servers. A rolling restart sequentially shuts down and restarts all of the targeted servers that are elegible to be restarted.

To initiate a rolling restart:

  1. In the Administration Console, click on the domain name under Domain Structure.
  2. On the Settings for domain_name page, select the ZDT Control page.
  3. Select one of the following pages:
    • Domain: Select this page if you want to perform a rolling restart of all servers in the domain.
    • Clusters: Select this page if you want to perform a rolling restart of servers in specific clusters.
    • Servers: Select this page if you perform a rolling restart of specific servers.
  4. If you selected the Clusters page, select the clusters to include in the restart.

If you selected the Servers page, select the servers to include in the restart.

  5. Click Patch.
  6. Select Rolling Restart.
  7. Click Next.
  8. If you only want to evaluate the rolling restart before executing it, select the Dry Run check box.
  9. If you want to migrate singleton services, such as JTA or JMS, during the rolling restart, in the Migration Properties field, enter the full path to a JSON-formatted file that contains the migration information. For more information on creating this file, see Preparing to Migrate Singleton Services.
  10. Click Finish to initiate the rolling restart workflow. The workflow will be added to the Workflow Progress table.
