This image shows the Data Set editor used to create data sets from spreadsheet, Oracle Applications subject areas and analyses, and database data. There are four panes:

• The top pane is the Step editor, which includes bubbles that you can click on to take you to a corresponding view. The first bubble contains the name of the data connection you are using to build the data source. In the image, this bubble is blue (because it is selected) and its label is “BI EE 12.1.2.3.” The second bubble is white (because it is not selected) and its labels is Filter. After adding columns to the data set, you click this bubble and the filters pane displays where you can build filters to limit the data in your data set. The third bubble is white (because it is not selected) and its label is Oracle BI EE 12.1.2.3 Order Info, which is also the name of the data set. There is a Name field on the right side of the top pane. The name of the data connection defaults into this field, but you can edit this field to provide a more suitable name for your data set. On the right of the Name field are two buttons: Add and Cancel. Click Add to save the data set and add it to your list of available data sets. If you are working with a saved data set, then you can click Cancel to cancel your changes and return to the Inspect screen for the data set. Or if you are working with a new data set, then click Cancel to cancel the creation of the data set and return to the blank Data Set editor view.

• The pane located below and to the left of the step editor shows the Sample Sales subject area’s hierarchy, and specifically the Customer folder opened and showing the columns C1 Customer Name, C0 Customer Number, C2 Customer Status, C2b Customer Status (Phys Lookup), C3 Customer Type, and C3b Customer Type (Phys Lookup). The C1 Customer Name column is selected. There is an Add Selected blue link at the top right of the pane. Breadcrumbs are displayed above this pane showing you where you are in the subject area’s hierarchy. The breadcrumbs show BI EE 12.1.2.3, and A- Sample Sales. Next to A- Sample Sales is a blue plus sign and when you click it, the Add/Remove Related Subject Areas dialog is displayed and shows you that you’ve included the C-Samples subject area to the A-Sample Sales subject area. Next to the breadcrumbs is a plus icon that you can click to add another related subject area.

• The pane located below and to the right of the step editor shows the columns that you selected for the data set. The selected columns showing are: P1 Product, P2 Product Type, P4 Brand, C0 Customer Number, R1 Order Status, and R2 Order Type. There are two links at the top right of the pane: Remove All and Remove Selected, which is selected. Three options are displayed above this pane: Select Columns, Select an Analysis, and Enter Logical SQL. The Select Columns option is selected.

• The pane that occupies the bottom half of the page shows the columns that you selected for the data set and preview data for each column.
