Refresh Manager Hierarchies

You need to regularly refresh manager hierarchies to view the latest hierarchical data.

Sometimes you might be unable to render the latest hierarchical data using any of the dimensions based on managerial hierarchies, as a manager. The primary reason could be the missing refresh of the respective hierarchies.

HCM OTBI subject areas have multiple hierarchical dimensions related to supervisors and workers. Each of the hierarchies have their own usage in various contexts.

The list of managerial and assignment hierarchies includes the following:

1. Assignment Manager

2. Assignment Manager (Unsecured)

3. Assignment Manager List

4. Assignment Manager List (Unsecured)

5. Matrix Manager

6. Parent Managers

You need to run the Refresh Manager Hierarchy process to populate the data to report using the hierarchical dimensions in OTBI. This process needs to be run every time there's a change in the worker and supervisor hierarchy.

Run Refresh Manager Hierarchy Process

An additional parameter has been added to the screen, by which the process can be flagged to run. Depending on the hierarchies, you intend to use, you could schedule either 1 or 2 ESS jobs, such as:

1. Populate assignment list dimensions

2. Populate other assignment manager dimensions

The method to run this process has been changed starting from the release 18.10. The name of the process and the steps to invoke is the same as earlier releases and is listed below.

1. From the navigator, go to Tools > Scheduled Processes > Schedule New Process.

2. Choose Refresh Manager Hierarchy , click OK.

   Note: The rule to populate the hierarchies differs based on the value you enter while running the process.

3. To populate the Assignment Manager List dimensions, you need to have the column value blank or specify a positive integer in the Updated within the last N days column, as shown.

   Scenario	Updated Within the Last N Days	Description
   Full Refresh	Null/blank	This does a full refresh of the following manager hierarchies: Assignment Manager List Assignment Manager List (Unsecured) Parent Managers
   <Positive Integer>	Example: 5	The hierarchies are refreshed with all the changes that have happened in the last 5 days.

   Note: If there's already a schedule for the Refresh Manager Hierarchy process to run with blank or positive value, then continue with the same for populating data into Assignment manager list dimensions
4. When you enter the value as 0 in the Updated within the last N days column and submit, the process runs and does a full refresh of only the below mentioned hierarchies without doing changes to the remaining hierarchies related to manager/worker.

   1. Assignment Manager

   2. Assignment Manager (Unsecured)

   3. Matrix Manager

5. When you enter a negative value such as -1 in the Updated within the last N days column and submit, the process runs and updates the changes from the last 1 day, to the below mentioned hierarchies without doing changes to the remaining hierarchies related to manager/worker.

   1. Assignment Manager

   2. Assignment Manager (Unsecured)

   3. Matrix Manager
