Create Conversion Formulas for Proration for the US

Proration formulas control how the payroll process prorates an element entry when it encounters an event. You can modify these formulas to fit your own criteria.

There are two predefined proration formulas.

  • GLB_EARN_PRORATION

  • GLB_DEDN_PRORATION

They may trigger proration whenever the payroll process encounters an event, such as when there's a change to an element entry value.

You can copy and edit a predefined proration formula to modify the calculation. Then, you can update the user-defined formula as the proration formula for your element.

Create a Formula

Create a modified rate conversion before you create its related proration conversion rule.

  1. Start the Fast Formula task.

  2. Select the Payroll Run Proration formula type.

  3. Search for and copy the predefined GLB_EARN_PRORATION or GLB_DEDN_PRORATION formula text.

  4. Create the fast formula.

    1. Enter a name for your fast formula, including a suffix of _PRORATE.

      For example: MyFormula_PRORATE

    2. Select the Payroll Run Proration type.

    3. Click Continue.

    4. Paste the formula into the formula text.

    5. Update these formula inputs.

      • PRORATE_START_DATE (date)

      • PRORATE_END_DATE (date)

      • SOURCE_PERIODICITY (text)

      • DAYS_WORKED (number)

      • RATE_CONV_FORMULA (text)

      • HOURS_WORKED (number)

      • IN_AMOUNT (number)

      • UNIT_TYPE (text)

      • PRORATION_UNIT (text)

    6. Add the formula outputs for the element input values.

  5. Save, submit, and compile the formula.

Use the predefined Global or US proration formulas as the basis for your modified version. These formulas use either GLB or US as a prefix.
