Create a Shared Image

Create a shared image so you and other authors can reuse it in different workbooks.

Shared images make it easy to maintain a uniform appearance across workbooks and help ensure everyone uses the right approved images. Creating a shared image for something like a company logo or approved diagram also helps minimize duplication of effort between authors.

You must have the Upload Shared Images permission to create a shared image. Your administrator manages permissions. All authors can select an existing shared image to use in any of their workbooks.

When you create a shared image, Oracle Analytics automatically provides a Compress on Upload Quality of 80%. You can modify this percentage. The lower the compression, the more pixelated the image appears. Additionally, higher compression may increase the load time for the workbook.

  1. On your home page, hover over a workbook, click Actions, then select Open.
  2. Navigate to the location in the workbook where you want to add the shared image:
    • To upload a shared image to use as a canvas background, right-click the canvas tab and click Canvas Properties.
    • To upload a shared image to use as a visualization background, select the visualization, then click Properties and scroll to the Style section of the General tab.
    • To upload a shared image to use in the workbook header, click Present, then go to the Header section in the Workbook tab.
  3. In the Background row, click Auto, then select Custom.
  4. In the Image Source row, click None and select Shared Image.
  5. Click the file upload icon This image shows the file upload icon..
  6. In the Select a Shared Image dialog, click Upload Shared Image.

  7. In the Upload Shared Image dialog, click the file upload icon This image shows the file upload icon., then browse for and select the image file.
  8. Click Save.
The image is now available for you and other authors to select when adding an image using the Shared Image option for the workbook header or as a canvas or visualization background.
